We are thrilled to be involved in the breast health website, a website designed to help you get to know and understand your breasts. At the Netcare Breast Care Centre in Johannesburg we love having the opportunity to share our knowledge and interest in breast health. We both believe it is important for every woman to know about her breasts and to know how to face each day determine and brave about her care and her future.

Women in South Africa are strong and independent. Every person is scared of becoming ill, and every patient wants to understand their disease or problem. With the knowledge and understanding of breast cancer and other problems or side effects comes the power to take part in the healing process not as a passive victim who is unable to take part decisions, but as an active member of the team that wants to make you better.

Coping with breast cancer is the hardest think many women will ever do, and it changes each woman that it affects. But although most women come through the experience changed forever, it is normally for the better and they find they are stronger and wiser than ever before.

We both believe that the more that women understand their breasts, what is good for the breast and what is bad for them, the more women will be aware about breast cancer. Women must be willing to educate each other, create awareness in their communities and support each other when they have problems or become ill.

We hope you enjoy reading this website and learning more about breast cancer. We also hope that you will take the information and tell it to others: to the people you work with, to your family and friends, and to all the women of South Africa.
